MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tex. (KBTX) - If you're looking for a spot to cool off this summer, Chadillac's Backyard water park is a little off the beaten path, but there's something here for everyone to enjoy.
"It's definitely peculiar. I have never seen this before where I live, but it's actually really fun. I am having a really good time," explained Taylor Crawley, a Chadillac's visitor.
"It's got a primitive feel. Literally feels like you're just in someone's backyard here to have a good time," explained Will Larrain, general manager of Chadillac's.
There's no concrete at the bottom of this pool, but it's decked out with a super slide, zipline, and volleyball court.
"It's B.Y.O.B. No one's here to come down on you. We just ask for you to act like an adult and don't bring any glass and everything will be fine. We just like that good laid back feel," explained Larrain.
You can chill at Chadillac's all day long, but when you're hungry, hit the trail to Tony's Italian Delicatessen in Montgomery.
Their menu includes hot subs, cold subs, and salads, all made with fresh ingredients.
"A friend of mine told me about it and I thought if I am in the area I've got to check it out and I have no regrets. It is amazing," explained repeat customer Ali Ahmed.
"My favorite is the Lucky Luciano because it has all of your Italian meats. It's a hot sub. It's got the marinara, roasted red peppers and I love spicy, so I put some pepperchinis, top it with provolone, and it's baked," said Mary Trant, owner and operator of Tony's Italian Delicatessen.
Mary and her husband Hootie took over the deli from the previous owner nearly three years ago.
"We put 100% into every sandwich and sub and we are not going to rush it just to get people out of here quick because we want to make sure they get 100% when they eat it and they return for that 100%," explained Trant.
Mary says they serve about 400 subs everyday during the week and about 600 sandwiches on weekend days.
Mary and Hootie just have one employee, Garrett, so between the three of them, they certainly stay busy.
Their efforts don't go unnoticed though. In January of 2107,
Yelp named Tony's the best place to eat in America based on customer reviews.
"Doing what we do, as stressful as it gets sometimes and sometimes we are at each other's throats at the end of the day it is worth it, look at all of these happy people and the people that keep coming back and support us it's all worth it," said Trant.
Chadillac's Backyard Water Park is located at 16038 Crowley Road in Conroe.
Tony's Italian Delicatessen is located at 16283 TX-105 #9 in Montgomery.
Mary and Hootie suggest checking their Facebook page before making the drive to Tony's as they sometimes have to take off to be with their family or for other work situations.
They are generally open Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
They are closed on Sunday & Monday.
