COLLEGE STATION, Tex. (KBTX) Former President George H.W. Bush celebrated his 94th birthday with family and friends at his home in Maine on Tuesday, becoming the first former president to reach that age.

In College Station, the Bush Library hosted a party to celebrate the President's birthday, and also paid tribute to the late Barbara Bush, who passed away in April. She would have been 93 years old on June 8.

"We will remember her, and we are just celebrating her life and his life," said Warren Finch with the George Bush Presidential Library. "They have been so active here, and they have been a great first couple. We're lucky we have had them all these years."

Guests dressed up as their favorite literary character to celebrate Mrs. Bush’s legacy. The festivities included free birthday cake, popcorn and refreshments. Oh My Soul Cookies and Cakes made the centerpiece, as well as eight different flavors of cakes.
