Hearne ISD announces selection of new Athletic Director & Head Football Coach Ricky Sargent

Hearne ISD is excited to announce the selection of Coach Ricky Sargent to the position of Athletic Director & Head Football Coach. Coach Sargent is presently serving Hearne ISD in administrative and athletics coaching support roles at the secondary. Coach Sargent brings to this new position experience as head and assistant head coach, and education experience in public schools, higher education, and local community social service agencies. Coach Sargent is a proud product of Prairie View A&M University holding the master's degree in Educational Administration.

Coach Sargent promotes the values of academic excellence, strong moral character, and the expectation that all student-athletes under his guidance can find success in school through hard work, determination, and teamwork. He believes that "empowering student athletes with the necessary skills to be champions in life first will allow them to become champions on and off the field." His motto is "Together We Can." Coach Sargent has previously served with distinction in Hempstead ISD, Jasper ISD, Waxahachie ISD, and Southwestern AG University. Coach Sargent's accomplishments in coaching include:

• Bi-District and Area Champs/Regional Finalist (9-4, 2012), Hempstead ISD
• State Finalist (14-1, 2011), Hempstead ISD
• District and Regional Football Coach of the Year (2010), Hempstead ISD
• U.S. Army All-American Bowl Coach (2007), Hempstead ISD
• State Finalist (2004 ), Jasper ISD
• Red River Athletic Conference Track Coach of the Year, Southwestern A/G University (2000), Southwester A/G University
• State Champion (16-0, 1992), Waxahachie ISD

Hearne ISD is extremely proud of the accomplishment of our football team. The Eagles made the playoffs for the first time in four (4) years. We believe that the future indeed looks bright as the Eagles soar to new heights of success under the proven leadership of Coach Ricky Sargent.
