COLLEGE STATION, Tex. (KBTX) - Authorities say a driver checking out hay in the median of Highway 6 is responsible for starting a fire that destroyed a truck.
Firefighters were called to Highway 6, between Emerald Parkway and Harvey Road, just before 4:30 p.m. According to fire officials, a driver stopped to check out hay in the median and accidentally parked on some loose hay. The heat off the engine caught the hay on fire and spread to the truck.
Firefighters and first responders shut down Highway 6 in both direction for about an hour Thursday. All lanes have since reopened.
No injuries were reported.
