BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX) - The Hispanic Forum of Bryan/College Station handed out more than 70 scholarships Saturday night at their annual gala.

The event serves as a celebration for the students. $100,000 in scholarships were awarded. This year, the organization had more than 130 applicants.

In addition to live music, there was a raffle, live and silent auctions. The event helps raise money for scholarships. Organizers say the event grows larger each year.

"In the past, it was just a banquet and we've evolved to this night," Irma Pineda, president of the Hispanic Forum, said.

"We're also recognizing the businesses and the people in our community that make an impact to our community," she continued.

News 3's Karla Castillo and Rusty Surette emceed the event.
