Hurricane Nate makes landfall near mouth of Mississippi River

OCTOBER 7th, 2017 - Hurricane Nate officially made landfall at 7pm CDT near the mouth of the Mississippi River as a Category 1 hurricane with sustained winds of 85 mph.

The National Hurricane Center said Saturday night that Nate is expected to make a second landfall along the coast of Mississippi on Saturday night and then pass over parts of Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee.

A tornado watch is also in effect for portions of the Florida Panhandle, southern Mississippi, and southern Alabama until 2am CDT.

A hurricane warning is in effect until for New Orleans and much of southern Louisiana and southern Mississippi tonight.
