Josh Abbott Band cancels College Station show after Vegas shooting

BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX) - KBTX has confirmed that the Josh Abbott Band has cancelled their shows for the upcoming weekend.

A spokesperson for the band said that the decision to cancel was made for a few reasons. Some of the equipment the band uses is still tied up in Las Vegas. The bigger reason for the cancellation was for the band's mental health.

The Josh Abbott Band released a statement saying:

"Out of respect for the victims and their families of the Las Vegas shooting, as well as the overall health of our band & crew, we have decided to cancel our shows this weekend in College Station and Waco. This week has been emotional as we try to process what happened. It would be disingenuous for us to pretend like this is a normal week of shows. It wouldn't be fair to you the fans or to ourselves. We will resume touring on October 14th in Houston."

"We apologize for any inconvenience, but this is the right decision after the tragedy that just occurred. Please contact the venue with further questions. We thank all of you for your love and support during this difficult time."

The band was scheduled to play at Wolf Pen Creek in College Station Friday night. On Saturday, they were set to play the Heart of Texas Fair in Waco.

A representative for Gamma Phi Beta told KBTX that their concert is not cancelled even though Josh Abbott is not performing. They are currently looking for a replacement.
