Local A/C companies struggling to find more employees

COLLEGE STATION, Tex. (KBTX) - With summer heating up, local A/C companies say they are in desperate need of more qualified HVAC technicians. They are also seeing challenges as the area continues to grow and volume of calls going up.

Ed Wren with Climate Doctors of B/CS tells us they are looking at ways to attract workers from Houston and the larger cities.

A/C technician jobs start at more than $15 an hour and go up from there with higher pay.

"If you're interested in doing air conditioning work, and you want to get into the service work, come talk to some of the guys that are in the air conditioning business," said Wren. "And if you're an intelligent young man or young woman, come on. Come talk to us. We'd love to talk to you about getting in the industry. We'd love to have you," he said.

Wren says other requirements for the job include passing a background check and having a valid driver's license to be able to work.
