National Weather Service to host SKYWARN training Thursday

BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX) - With spring just around the corner, its time to start thinking of warm, sunny afternoons...but also severe weather season. Interested in severe storms and possibly want to learn more and become a certified storm spotter? The Houston / Galveston office of the National Weather Service will be in Bryan Thursday, March 1st to host two sessions of the annual SKYWARN training.

Anyone is welcome to attend, even if you just want to learn more about the weather.

•Time(s): 1:30pm to 4pm OR 6pm to 8:30pm

•Cost: FREE

This class is free of charge and no pre-registration is necessary. This class is for organized storm spotters and anyone with an interest in severe weather.

This year’s program discusses thunderstorm formation, ingredients, and features associated with severe and non-severe storms. Several examples and cases from previous years will be shown. The program will discuss spotter operations and recommended reporting procedures.
