OCTOBER 9th, 2017 - This October is off to a warm start. We are already on pace to see our warmest October on record, but a couple of cold fronts could change that.
As far as temperatures go, we've already seen some rather warm days to get the first week and a half of October going. Highs in the upper 80s and lower 90s have been common. On average, October will see mean temperature of about 70.9°. So far this year, we are at 79.4°, putting us on a record warm pace.
The last couple of Octobers have been very warm as well, with 2016 coming in at 6th warmest, and 2015 coming in at 8th warmest.
What does this mean for you though? Well, for starters, if you're a homeowner like myself, your AC bill was likely higher last month and will probably be on the high side so far for this October. Warmer temperatures lasting this late into the Fall can make it feel like summer will never let go.
There is a sign of relief on the way though as a cold front moves south into the Brazos Valley tonight into tomorrow morning. It'll bring cooler temperatures and drop back our humidity substantially.
