BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX)- The owners of Bryan's Brookwood Square plaza tell police they're in the process of evicting Rose Spa after a series of prostitution arrests. Bryan police returned to Rose Spa on Friday evening, arresting 56-year-old Ruihe Zhou for prostitution, a Class B misdemeanor.
Police say officers were alerted to unusual activity at the building yesterday, noticing the interior lights were on, but the business did not appear to be open. They also noted customers appearing at the business at unusual hours. Bryan officers were able to stop one of those customers as they were leaving, who then admitted to receiving sexual favors for money. A Bryan undercover officer was later able to negotiate a sex act for payment, leading to the arrest.
On December 29, Fan Zhang, 48, and Lina Ashford, 49 were taken into custody at Rose Spa and charged with prostitution. Police said Rose Spa and another local massage parlor, Chi Massage, were advertising on both Craigslist and Backpage to solicit customers. Undercover officers brought recording devices with them and in several instances, the women were caught on camera agreeing to the illegal acts. Police say the massage parlors have since stopped advertising on Backpage.
In February 2016, Bryan and Houston police arrested five women at Rose Spa, Chi Massage and Royal Spa for prostitution and operating a massage establishment without a license.
Bryan Police say the owners of Chi Massage also plan to evict their tenants related to the recent arrests. Police did caution, however, that those businesses may wind up in new locations around town following their eviction.
