COLLEGE STATION, Tex. (KBTX)- The following is a news release from the College Station Police Department:
On 02/10/17 at approximately 11:52 p.m., CSPD officers responded to the area of 300 College Main after observing an unmarked Ford F350 with red and blue emergency lights and siren attempting to stop a car.
Officers made contact with the driver of the Ford F350 as he was causing the car to pullover into a parking lot. Officers learned that the driver of the Ford F350 was not a peace officer and has never been one.
The driver of the car stated he pulled over due to him believing he was being stopped by a police officer. It was later learned that the driver of the Ford F350 was trying to stop the car due to an incident that had just occurred in a nearby parking lot.
Sec. 37.11. IMPERSONATING PUBLIC SERVANT. (a) A person commits an offense if he:
(1) impersonates a public servant with intent to induce another to submit to his pretended official authority or to rely on his pretended official acts; or
(2) knowingly purports to exercise any function of a public servant or of a public office, including that of a judge and court, and the position or office through which he purports to exercise a function of a public servant or public office has no lawful existence under the constitution or laws of this state or of the United States.
(b) An offense under this section is a felony of the third degree.
