Preparing your plants for Hurricane Harvey

As people across the state are preparing for Hurricane Harvey, we're learning about how to prepare your garden for powerful storms.

First, Jayla Fry says to bring as many plants as you can inside. Also, try to cover or anchor your plants to the ground.

Secondly, walk around your garden and pick up any loose items that could possibly go through a window. Try to secure things like bird feeders, porch swings and dog houses.

Jayla also suggests inspecting your trees for dead branches which will be the first to fall during the storm.

Once the storm has passed, look at trees and plants that have fallen over or been uprooted and try to replant them as soon as possible.
