COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - At over 35 thousand strong, Texas A&M's student section is one of the nation's best - meaning tickets to football games are a hot commodity. But for a select group of students at Texas A&M's RELLIS Campus, that Saturday seat will be free.
"We wanted them to have as much of an A&M Flagship experience as they possibly can," said Texas A&M System Chancellor John Sharp.
Sharp announced the system is giving out 250 tickets. RELLIS students will sit together in a block and not affect other students getting tickets. Sharp says in all likelihood, the free tickets will only be for this season, with the option to purchase a sports pass beginning next year.
"I highly doubt this is something we'll do the next year and the following years but we wanted to do something here at the system level and pay for their sporting events in the first year," Sharp said.
