Residents say they've been without A/C for days at CS apartments

COLLEGE STATION, Tex. (KBTX) - Chances are your air conditioner has been running quite a bit with the recent warmer temperatures.

James Jones, who lives at the Marc Apartments in College Station, said that hasn't been the case for him the last several days. He said his air conditioner hasn't worked since Saturday.

"It's 86,87 degrees in there right now," said Jones.

Management sent out an email Saturday saying they were having a problem with their chiller system and were working on getting it fixed.

"I can't sleep. I've been up since 3:30 this morning. I got up to use the bathroom and it was so hot I couldn't go back to sleep," said Jones.

Jones said the heat is taking a toll on his mother's health.

"I had to almost call the ambulance the other night. She had breathing issues in her chest with the humidity. On Saturday I went and bought two fans for my mother and spent about 40 to 50 bucks. They're not going to give me the money back for that. They're not going to reimburse me," said Jones.

On Tuesday a spokesperson for the Marc told KBTX:
"We hope to have the issue fixed soon and should know more as soon as we receive an assessment from our a/c vendor, which is happening as we speak.

In the meantime, we are installing 20-23 window units for the affected residents."

Jones says his apartment unit hasn't received one yet. After dealing with mold and other maintenance in the past, he said this is the last straw.

"I'm going to talk to some friends to see if I can find somebody that are needing roommates. I'm tired of these apartments. I've had enough," said Jones.
