Snook residents arrested on illegal dumping charge

SNOOK, Tex. (KBTX) - Deputies with the Burleson County Sheriff's Office arrested a Snook couple for hoarding more than one thousand pounds of trash on their property.

Mary and Frank Macik were charged with illegal dumping and unauthorized disposal of lead acid batteries.

A warrant was issued for their arrests on November 29th. Both turned themselves in the next day and were released hours later.

Investigators say the Macik's dumped more than one thousand pounds of trash on their own property on Skrabanek Street, near Snook's schools.

In the state of Texas, dumping that amount is considered a felony and could result in jail time, plus a possible fine. Unauthorized disposal of lead acid battery is a class A misdemeanor.

The city of Snook is currently in the process of hiring a contractor to remove the trash.
