NAVASOTA, Tex. (KBTX) - A Navasota man is facing charges after he broke into two businesses Wednesday morning.
According to Navasota police, David Cruz, 29, broke into the Prosperity Bank and Noto's Home and Auto before 6:00 a.m. Officers found Cruz after getting calls of falling debris in downtown.
Cruz surrendered to the officers. Both businesses were searched for other people inside. None were found.
Navasota Police Chief Justin Leeth said Cruz confessed to entering the businesses.
Authorities believe the suspect wanted to cause damage to the businesses and was not attempting any sort of robbery. While inside the buildings, Cruz caused more than $80,000 in damage.
Cruz was booked into the Grimes County Jail. He's charged with two counts of burglary of a building and two counts of criminal mischief.
