CAMERON, Tex. (KBTX)- Cameron Police say a woman seen taking a dog from the city's animal shelter has turned herself in following the release of surveillance video.
The footage that was released to local media on Thursday shows the woman unlocking then opening a metal kennel, putting a leash around the dog's neck, and leaving with the animal in a new model white car.
Police said the city's animal control officer had just finished feeding and walking the female dog when they had to respond to an animal call and left quickly.
After the officer left, police said the woman walked up and freely unlocked the lock at around 12:27 p.m. Wednesday.
The facility is an open/outside pen enclosed from the weather.
Police are not publicly releasing the identity of the woman at this point. It's unclear if she'll be facing any charges.
