ROGERS, Texas (KWTX) Rogers High School band director Christopher Johnston was placed on administrative leave and then resigned after a text message prompted an investigation that “resulted in evidence of an inappropriate relationship,” the school district confirmed Thursday.

The district issued a brief statement Thursday in which it said on May 12 a student reported “a text message sent by our band director, Christopher Johnston, that violated district policy.”

“Our HS principal began an investigation and placed Mr. Johnston on administrative leave,’ the statement said.

“At this point, our investigation has resulted in evidence of an inappropriate relationship. We have contacted the appropriate authorities and Mr. Johnston has submitted a resignation,” the statement said.

The district said it has forwarded the results of its investigation to the Temple Police Department.

No further details were immediately available.
