BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX) - Nice emails make for a great start to the day. Here's one from F-G who sends a compliment our way about – the on-air females for KBTX:
"Mr. Wright, just wanted to drop a line to say that the women on KBTX are high class. heir presentation in appearance, word and deed are first rate and I am proud to tell others that they represent our community to the world as women who are smart, friendly, compassionate, self-confident, concerned about our local community and the relevance of news and weather throughout the world to us. I watch the KBTX news at 4 and 5 and know that I will keep up to date each day."
F-G, nothing more to add. This staff is involved in the community every week at any number of events, and are certainly appreciated for what they do on-air for KBTX. Thanks for making our day.
S-G sends along this note about programming:
"I wrote you a while back asking why we didn't get "The Doctors" anymore. It is on in Dallas and Austin. I see that it starts its next season tomorrow and once again you will not be carrying it. I am terribly upset as this was the ONLY daytime informative program that we had. Take the other horrible daytime CBS shows off the air! Why is this happening?"
S-G, first, taking off other daytime shows on CBS would be difficult. The 'Young and the Restless' and 'Price is Right' are two shows – that if they are ever missed for special reports, NCAA Basketball, whatever the case may be – the phones lite up with complaints. Syndication is a difficult animal to explain. All to say, 'The Doctors' was not our show – that show was on another television station. It could have been a lack of performance in the time period, or – the syndicators could have asked too much money for it. It happens!
M-W sends this note to KBTX:
"Why do you keep showing the advertisement/news story for the IT movie screening. This is the second time I had to make a mad dash for the remote to turn the TV off. My seven-year-old son and I were watching a news story this morning at 6:30 about a Lego millennium falcon then without warning the next story shows a creepy clown monster talking to a kid in a storm drain. Needless to say this freaked my son out. A warning would have been great. Please remember in the future that little eyes might be watching the news too and news stories that might be inappropriate should come with a warning. Also it would be good if you didn't follow a child friendly story with one that is not. Channel 3 is the only channel I trust to have on when we are getting dressed in the morning but recently that trust has been damaged.
M-W, immediately we were in touch with the morning crew. Here is what Noelle Bellow sent back:
Thanks for the heads up, and we're sorry the trust in Channel 3 was compromised. We will do better, and we thank you for your input. Be in touch anytime, your opinion matters to this family of KBTX News 3.
