Voluntary water restrictions lifted in Madisonville

MADISONVILLE, Tex. (KBTX) - The city of Madisonville has rescinded stage one of its drought contingency plan.

City Manager Camilla Viator says the city has been given approval to start using a third well, which had to be replaced earlier this summer.

Last month, the city put Madisonville residents under voluntary water restrictions in an effort to conserve water.

However, on Thursday, city staff told KBTX that there have been no problems with the new well and those restrictions are no longer being recommended.

Normal hours for the splash pad at Lake Madison park will also resume Friday.
