It’s time for weekend gardener and joining us this week is Tim Hartmann from Aggie Horticulture to talk about Sudden Oak Tree Death.
Lately, experts have seen a lot of trees dying, seemingly overnight, but according to Hartmann, this has been going on for a long time. Mostly, this is due to extreme weather cycles from wet to dry and from hot to cold and it’s compounded by disease and insects.
According to Hartmann, the best thing you can do if you have a post oak is to just leave them alone and that includes watering. For live oaks, give them a deep watering when it gets really dry. To learn more, visit aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu.
