Malaquias Marquez

Malaquias Marquez, 102, passed into eternal Life on Monday, December 4 at Lampstand Heath and Rehab.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 8 at Oak Grove Methodist Church, 505 Boulevard Street in Bryan. Interment will follow at Bryan City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

Malaquias was born January 14, 1915 in Tamaulipas, Mexico. He retired from Producers Co-Op after 44 years of service. Malaquias loved doing yard work and planting trees and vegetables. He was very proud of his beautiful yard, made sure it was always neatly keep. He preferred to do the mowing himself, telling his children they would not be able to do it the way he would like it. Malaquias and his wife raised three of their grandsons, Abel, Patrick and Bennie like they were their own children. Malaquias was a member of Oak Grove Methodist Church in Bryan.

Malaquias is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Caroline Marquez; and a grandson, Patrick Arevalo.

He is survived by his children, Rosie Gutierrez and husband Willie, Adolph Marquez, Rudolph Marquez, Socorro "Corrie" Gonzales, Elena Ramirez and husband Felix, Eloise Rosas and husband Chuck; brother, Daniel Ramirez; fifteen grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Compassionate Care Hospice, and especially Tony and Corinna for all of the care they gave to our father.
