Mildred Lynell Phillips, 76, of Waco, made her transition November 30, 2017, surrounded by her loving family and pet, "Sarge".
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, December 8, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd., Waco. Celebration of Life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 9, at Pleasant Olive MBC, 1600 League St., Waco, with Rev. E. Shaun Williams, officiant.
Mildred was born in Bryan, Texas February 11, 1941 to Rev. L. E. Ross and Armatha (Mooring) Ross. She graduated from E. A. Kemp Senior High School in 1959 in Bryan and earned her Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Business Education from Prairie View A & M University, Prairie View, TX.
She was employed as an educator at Blackshear Senior High School in Hearne, TX for three years and Midway ISD Transportation for ten years. She was also worked as a Data Processor with the Federal Government in Panama Canal Zone and was later employed by the V. A. Regional Office and Hospital Waco, Darnell Army Hospital Ft. Hood, and lastly, the Social Security Administration for 28 years Waco.
Mildred leaves to cherish her precious memories, her husband, Minister Isaiah Phillips who she affectionately called "Ike"; a daughter, Dr. Chandai K. Phillips-Willis (Carlton) of Houston; mother, Armatha Ross of Houston; two sisters, Virginia Ross Ford of Dallas and Marilyn Ross Samuel (Don) of Houston; two brothers-in-law, John Phillips, Bryan and Robert Phillips (Josephine) of Houston; and many other dear relatives and friends.
