A&M Consolidated Tennis Team suffers State Semifinal loss to Highland Park

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) -- For the fourth straight year the A&M Consolidated Tennis Team advanced to the UIL State Tournament, but still haven't been able to advance out of the semifinals that are being held in their backyard at the Mitchell Tennis Center on the Texas A&M Campus.

Highland Park has won 8 state championships in the last 9 years in Team Tennis and are positioned to win another one following a 11-0 win over Consol Wednesday afternoon.

The match was scheduled to begin at 11:30am, but was pushed back 3 hours because of rainy weather in College Station Wednesday morning.

The Scots will face Amarillo High after the Sandies beat San Antonio Alamo Heights 10-6.

The Class 5A State Team Tennis Championship matches are scheduled to be contested Thursday morning at 10am.

The Class 4A finals will match Abilene Wylie against Fredricksburg scheduled to begin at 7am. Class 6A will be an all Houston finale with Cypress Ranch battling Houston Memorial set to begin at 1:30pm.
