Aggies Tee Off Season at Badger Invitational

MADISON, Wisc. –

The Aggie men's golf team opens up the fall season with a trip to Wisconsin for the 2017 Badger Invitational. The three-day tournament begins with an opening round Sunday on University of Wisconsin Golf Course-University Range.

"Really excited to start this season," said Texas A&M head coach J.T. Higgins. "We have never been to Madison, but the course and tournament get great reviews. The team looks strong so far in practice and we are eager to see how well that travels. Looking forward to a great season!"

The first round of the 54-hole tournament tees off Sunday at 9 a.m. (CT) with the second round coming the same time on Monday. Tuesday’s final round tees off with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start from the 7,259-yard, par-72 course.

The Aggies join hosts Wisconsin along with Butler, Illinois State, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Loyola-Chicago, Marquette, Nebraska, Nevada, Oakland, Rutgers, South Dakota State and UAB in the 15-team field.

The A&M lineup includes 2017 All-American Chandler Phillips who comes off a season where he posted the best scoring average in program history. Fellow All-American Cameron Champ will miss the tournament as he represents the United States in the Walker Cup. Two returners, senior Andrew Paysse and sophomore Brandon Smith, join Phillips along with a pair of newcomers as freshmen Walker Lee and Reese Ramsey make their collegiate debuts. Sophomore Josh Gliege also makes the trip competing as an individual.
