BAYTOWN, Texas – After suffering its worst loss of the season, Blinn College volleyball came back strong in its next game to sweep Lee College 3-0 Thursday night in Baytown.
Now halfway through the Region XIV season, the Buccaneers improve to 4-1 in conference and 13-7 overall with the 25-20, 25-16 and 25-21 victory.
“The team was motivated to get better after our last match,” said Kalie Mader, Blinn head coach.
Alexis Kingston led Blinn with 15 kills behind a .294 hitting percentage and added 11 digs. Paola Marie Salas Adorno earned 12 kills with a .323 hitting percentage and led the Buccaneers with 20 digs. Danusia Sipa Borgeaud led Blinn with 13 digs and Kylee Kaaihue dished out 35 assists.
Blinn came out with more determination and focus in the opening set against Lee and claimed the first set 25-20. The second set turned out to be the best set for the Buccaneers by keeping Lee in the teens in points and took a 2-0 lead in sets with a 25-16 victory.
The third set turned out to be the closest but Blinn was able to seal the sweep with a 25-21 victory.
Blinn will hit the road again on Tuesday, Sept. 27 against Panola College at 6 p.m.
