Burton suffers second straight state semifinal loss, 60-22 to Tenaha

CROCKETT, Texas -- The Burton football team lost to Tenaha 60-22 Thursday night in a Class 2A Division 2 state semifinal game at Driskell Stadium in Crockett. It was the Panthers second straight trip to the semifinal round of the playoffs.

Tenaha started the scoring with an Onterio Thompson four yard touchdown. The Tigers followed that up with a Trai Gardner 96 yard interception return for a touchdown. Tenaha led 2-0 after the first quarter.

Burton would get a field goal and a De'Monderick Winters one yard touchdown run to make it a 20-10 game at halftime.

Burton ends the season with a 13-2 record. Tenaha will play Muenster in the Class 2A Division 2 State Championship on December 21 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
