Classroom Champion - Arisha Ali - March 23, 2017

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Classroom Champions, presented by American Momentum Bank.

News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion, Arisha Ali. The College Station High School Senior has a 4.4 GPA, and is currently ranked in the top five percent of her class.

Mary Selzer – Teacher
“I think Arisha handles the pressure of being a scholastic athlete like many other students here. I think they work together to find balance between the time that they need to be on the track field. When she's on the track field she commits 100%, then when she goes home she commits 100%. So she has to find that balance between her work time on her school work and her work time on the track.”

Arisha is a member of the Lady Cougar track team. As a freshman, Arisha won state in Cross Country. And the past three years, she has been a Regional Qualifier in the 4x400, the Triple Jump, and the 300m Hurdles. Outside of sports, Arisha is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, HOSA, the Leo Club, the United Way, and I-SERV. And in her spare time, Arisha volunteers in her community and at her church.

Robert Ondrasek - Coach
“She has a lot of pride. She likes to do things right. I'm sure her parents have brought up a good work ethic there...And she leads by example. When the work gets tough is usually when she's at her best. So she thrives in those hard times. She's a 300 hurdler, she's been an 800 person before, she's a triple jumper, all of those things are kind of pounding events,o and she steps up to the plate every time with those.”

Arisha Ali - Student
“For me, being a leader has come more naturally. Because here at College Station High School we tend to lead by example. And that's something that you can do at any age, no matter how old or young you are. Doing the right thing and having others see that can always have a great impact on the type of person you are. And just what they see, what they view you as, and what they learn to do from you.”

After High School, Arisha will attend Texas A&M University and she will major in Industrial Distribution.

Congratulations to Arisha Ali of College Station High School. This week’s News 3 Sports Classroom Champion!
