Classroom Champion - Edward Scamardo - January 18, 2018

MUMFORD, Texas -- Classroom Champions, sponsored by American Momentum Bank.

News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion, Edward Scamardo. The Mumford School Senior has a 4.6 GPA, and is currently ranked number one in his class.

Elaine Luman – Teacher
“The characteristics that separates Edward from the other students is he doesn't procrastinate. If he has something he needs to work on. He gets it done and gets finished with it and then moves on to other things. He takes care of business in a timely fashion.”

Darryl Bruffett
Edward plays baseball and basketball for the Mustangs. In both sports he was named 1st Team All-Academic. And in Basketball, Edward made the All Brazos Valley Academic Team and was the Defensive Player of the year last season. Outside of sports, he's a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, One Act Play, and a senior class officer. In the classroom, Edward is a National Merit-Commended Student, and hes' made the “A” Honor Roll his entire high school career.

Mike Scarbrough - Coach
“One of the things that makes him special is that he's an intelligent player. And maybe not the fastest guy on the court, but because he understands not only what he's doing bit what everybody else on the floor is doing. He anticipates well. I think that gives him good court vision. He see's what's going to happen before it happens.”

Edward Scamardo - Student
“I like to lead a little bit of both vocal and by example. Sometimes the way to help other people to get better is by working harder in the drill or in the game. And other times it's just by like yelling praise and just telling people what they need to do better. Personally, it's more fun to be a vocal leader. Because it also pumps me up. But being a leader by example is very effective.”

After High School, Edward will attend Texas A&M University and will major in Engineering, in hopes to become an Aerospace Engineer.

Congratulations to Edward Scamardo of Mumford High School. This week’s News 3 Sports Classroom Champion!
