HUNTSVILLE, Texas -- Classroom Champions, presented by American Momentum Bank.
News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion, Jayce Elliott. The Huntsville High School Senior has a 3.9 GPA, and is currently ranked in the top 10 percent of his class.
Jonathan Gallen – Teacher
“I think Jayce both leads by example and is very vocal. As a quarterback out on the football field he has to be very vocal, obviously. The play calls, audibles things like that. You know in the classroom. Jayce is a little bit more quiet. But Jayce is very successful I his classes and the students know this. So you'll see students asking Jayce for help. That speaks for Jayce's accomplishments on the level of respect that his peers have for him in the classroom. On top of you know his athletic ability and the success he's shown on the football as field as well.”
Jayce is the starting Quarterback for the football team, and he also plays baseball for the Hornets. Last season, Jayce received Academic All-District and Football Scholar Athlete of the Year honors. Outside of sports, Jayce is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, the Football Leadership Council, and the English and Spanish Honor Societies. In his spare time, Jayce likes playing football and helping out at his church.
David Brewer - Coach
“Jayce has got good parents and he's been taught to fight...To battle and win your position. And I think because if the way he's been raised. He shows that on the field it carries over...That hard work, dedication, just weather the storms and keep competing and out work your opponent. And he knows that through hard work, and just staying after it, and keep competing everyday good things are going to happen for him. And that's what happened with Jayce.”
Jayce Elliott - Student
“I've had a work ethic for long tome. I got it from my dad growing up. He always had a great work ethic and I think some of that just kind of fell to me. So, I like to do whatever I can to the best of my ability. I try as hard as I can each and every time, because what's the point of doing something if you can't do it well. I think that's the whole point of me' why I have a good work ethic.”
After High School, Jayce plans on attending college and majoring in Business.
Congratulations to Jayce Elliott of Huntsville High School. This week’s News 3 Sports Classroom Champion!
