BUFFALO, Texas - Classroom Champions, presented by American Momentum Bank.

News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion, Jordan Jenkins. The Buffalo High School Senior has a 3.9 GPA, and is currently ranked in the top ten percent of her class.

Melonie Menefee – Teacher
“The students respect Jordan. They know that she's and excellent writer. They know that she's won multiple awards booth in district, regional, and state with her writing. And so they respect that; it's kind of a quit respect. She's not a vocal leader and their not vocal with her. They just know what she says goes and she's the boss and they do what they need to do.”

Jordan is a member of this years State Finalist Lady Bison Basketball team, and a member of the track team as well. Jordan has been a 3-Time District MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and a All-Stater in basketball. In track, she has been a Regional Qualifier in the 400m and the shot put. Outside of sports, Jordan is a member of the National Honor Society, the All-State Journalism Team, and she is the Editor-in-Chief of the Buffalo School Newspaper.

Jozette Jenkins - Coach
“Her work ethic was developed when she was young. I'm not only her coach but I'm also her mom. So at three, she would mimic the workouts from her older sister. So she was a gym rat. And she just decided that she was going to be who she is, So she's relentless in her work ethic; she places those demands on herself, she never stops.”

Jordan Jenkins - Student
“I just show them leadership through my actions. I work as hard as I could hoping that they would jump on board and do the same thing. And they did. Because we got to state and the state finals. So it worked, they just followed suit. I didn't have to lead by myself, Lauren Pate was a leader, she's more vocal than I am. But I'm vocal on the court. I have a good relationship with everybody on the team, as a point guard I have to.”

After High School, Jordan plans on attending college and wants to major in Chemistry. But her ultimate goal is to one day play basketball in the European League.

Congratulations to Jordan Jenkins of Buffalo High School. This week’s News 3 Sports Classroom Champion!
