Classroom Champion - Josiah Green - April 12, 2018

HEARNE, Texas -- Classroom Champions, sponsored by American Momentum Bank.

News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion, Josiah Green. The Hearne High School Senior has a 3.7 GPA, and is currently ranked fourth in his class.

Ajuah Powell – Teacher
“He seems to have a good balance. He knows when it's time to socialize and when it's time to work. For example, in our rehearsal he would find tome to have fun with his friends, but then he was able to deliver exactly what I needed him to do, without any problem. And so I always tell them with theater, it's about having fun on stage, but focus fun. And I think he does a great job with staying on task.”

Darryl Bruffett
Josiah plays football, soccer, and runs track for the Hearne Eagles. In track, he was a Regional Qualifier in the 440 Relay. Outside of sports, Josiah is the Vice President of the National Honor Society, he's involved in FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), and he won the Eagle Spirit Award. And in his spare time, Josiah enjoys playing sports.

AJ Montelongo - Coach
“Josiah's a type of person who likes to strive to help the people around him. And improve himself and improve the people around him. He understands there's more than just a small picture; there's a lot bigger picture ahead of him. And he has great things coming towards him. He does worry about his GPA, he understands sports is second and academics is first.”

Josiah Green - Student
“All my coaches can attest to this...I am not very vocal at all. I lead by example more than anything. That's just what I do, that's how I carry the team on. I mean I get vocal sometimes, lineman mess up, I mean there all my buddies. They know if I yell at them or get onto them they take it as constructive criticism. Leading by example is definitely something I had to get used to. I was always a follower but like the past few years I've stepped up.”

After High School, Josiah plans on attending Blinn College for a year. Then he will transfer to Texas A&M University's Mays Business School.

Congratulations to Josiah Green of Hearne High School. This week’s News 3 Sports Classroom Champion!
