Classroom Champion - Kaydee Honeycutt - February 15, 2018

JEWETT, Texas -- Classroom Champions, sponsored by American Momentum Bank.

News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion, Kaydee Honeycutt. The Leon High School Senior has a 3.6 GPA, and is currently ranked sixth in her class.

DeAnna Bowdoin – Teacher
“She's a great student. She's dedicated. She's driven, and she works really hard at whatever she does. I think Kaydee's dedication probably comes from her home. Having parents that have always been supportive of her and then a very active part of her life. You know showing her support in everything that she does. And so, I go to her parents to her parents for her dedication.”

Darryl Bruffett
Kaydee was the Captain of the volleyball team, and is also a member of the basketball and track and field teams for the Lady Cougars. In volleyball, Kaydee is a State Champion and District Champion, as well as a 1st team All-State and the 18-3A Player of the Year selection. Last season, Kaydee was a 1st Team All-District winner for her efforts in basketball. Outside of athletics, Kaydee is a member of National Honor Society, FFA (Future Farmers of America), and 4-H . In her spare time, she enjoys showing her steers, volunteering in her community, and playing sports.

Cory Horne - Coach
“Kaydee is a perfectionist! And when she doesn't do things exactly right she gets upset. But instead of just getting upset and letting it steamroll the other way. She finds out what is wrong and fixes it. And works as hard as she can to make the things wrong that she did...make them right.”

Kaydee Honeycutt - Student
“Being the lone Senior in volleyball and basketball, my team and I had to overcome a little bit of adversity. I never thought I could be the leader that I have shown them. And I think that I've played a pretty good role to get them through the year...And show them and lead by example.”

After High School, Kaydee will attend Northwestern Oklahoma State University on a volleyball scholarship. And while there, she will get a degree related to Animal Sciences.

Congratulations to Kaydee Honeycutt of Leon High School. This week’s News 3 Sports Classroom Champion!
