Classroom Champion - Le'Andrew Watson - March 15, 2018

SOMERVILLE, Texas -- Classroom Champions, sponsored by American Momentum Bank.

News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion, Le'Andrew Watson. The Somerville High School Senior has a 3.7 GPA, and is currently ranked first in his class.

Tim Galbreath – Teacher
“I think it's his work ethic. And it's no to say the other kids don't have work ethic ,but I guess because he has a drive beyond high school. And he's put in that effort since he started as a freshman that he knows that every grade matters. Every time you do something it goes on a piece of paper; it goes down on film. So everything you do leads to your next step in life. And his futures bright, and he understands that, but it takes hard work to get there.”

Darryl Bruffett
Le'Andrew participates in football, track, tennis, and basketball for the Yeguas. In track, Le'Andrew and his teammates are reigning District Champs in the 4x100m. Outside of athletics, he's a member of National Honor Society, Student Council, and he's the Drum Major for the Yegua band. In his spare time, he enjoys building computers and playing video games.

Marie Young - Coach
“As far as Le'Andrew being a student athlete I think he handles it very well. He is constantly striving to the best. We see such a coachable individual in Le'Andrew. He's able to take what's given to him. I feel like he doesn't just sit on it. He is thinking about it and he works on it to the point of executing it in perfection.”

Le'Andrew Watson - Student
“I drive to work as hard as I can because I draw information from my mom. My mom dropped out of college when she was twenty-one...When she started having kids. And just recently she graduated college at Prairie View A&M University. And that serves as an inspiration for me.”

After High School, Le'Andrew will attend Texas A&M University and will major in Computer Science.

Congratulations to Le'Andrew Watson of Somerville High School. This week’s News 3 Sports Classroom Champion!
