NORMANGEE, Texas -- Classroom Champions, presented by American Momentum Bank.
News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion, Madison Light. The Normangee High School Senior has a 4.0 GPA, and is currently ranked number one in her class.
Tim Waldrip – Teacher
“They respect her greatly. I'm speaking specifically in the classroom. Many, many, many, times I've seen kids ask for help. She's more that willing to bend over backwards; help them out. Explaining it in ways maybe differently than I've done it. And she's wonderful at it. And so if she has any questions she like ask me then she'll go help some of the other kids. So anything she does is wonderful, and they watch her and I think they take after her leadership and they make wonderful students.”
Madison plays softball and volleyball for the Normangee Lady Panthers. She has been named to the All Brazos Valley and All Brazos Valley Academic teams in both sports. And she was also a TSWA All-State selection as well in volleyball. Outside of sports, Madison is a member of the National Honor Society, UIL, FFA (Future Farmers of America), 4-H, and she's the Vice President of her Senior class. In her spare time, Madison volunteers her time at church and in her community.
Tami Dean - Coach
“I think she's a leader by example. She's the setter on the team, so she kind of leads where the games gonna go based on where she's playing. But as far as the way she gives her work ethic and the way she performs out there. I think her positivity her attitude that she shows....Tries to help pick the team up and lead them when we get down or something in a game. She can help to try to pick them up, by the way she leads on the court.”
Madison Light - Student
“Leading by example has been like what I'm best at, because Im not one to like go out and say “Hey look at me!” I'm just going to do it the right way and other people see that and they look up to me for it. Knowing that people are looking up to me makes me work ten times harder. I just want to do the best that I can and make everyone around me proud.”
After High School, Madison plans on attending Texas A&M University and will major in Kinesiology, in hopes to become a teacher and a coach.
Congratulations to Madison Light of Normangee High School. This week’s News 3 Sports Classroom Champion!
