Classroom Champion - Nicole Becerra - April 6, 2017

BRYAN, Texas - Classroom Champions, presented by American Momentum Bank.

News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion, Nicole Becerra. The Rudder High School Senior has a 4.5 GPA, and is currently ranked in the top two percent of her class.

Alex Gary - Teacher
“So in Nicole I see diligence above everything else. When she is struggling with a problem she's the first one to ask me. When she knows she blatantly doesn't understand a concept shell come ask. Or when even she does understand it she'll ask questions to help make sure that reasonings good. And it's her diligence to seek out and to go for her goal that she has which sets her apart from everyone else.”

Nicole is a member of the Lady Ranger Gymnastics Team. Currently, she is training to make it to State this year in the Un-Even Bars. Outside of sports, Nicole is a member of the National Honor Society and the Key Club. In her academics, she has maintained an “A” average and made the Principal's List. In her spare time, Nicole likes baking, and spending time with her family and friends.

Cali Currie - Coach
“What motivate Nicole definitely is just her internal drive to do well. She strives to do well in the classroom, she strives to do well in the gym, and definitely because she knows she has those underclassmen looking up to her. She definitely sets that example and wants to do well in front of them not only for herself but for the team.”

Nicole Becerra - Student
“I think I lead more by example. I'm not good at voicing my opinions I guess. Because I feel I don't want to hurt somebodies feelings. I think it's kind of been something I had to learn. Because usually I felt like everybody just kind of did the same thing. But in high school, I realize that not everybody feels the responsibilities like I do and so I just lead by doing what I know I need to do, and showing others what they can do.”

After High School, Nicole plans on attending Texas A&M University, and will major in Forensics and Investigative Sciences in hopes to one day become a Pathologist.

Congratulations to Nicole Becerra of Rudder High School. This week’s News 3 Sports Classroom Champion!
