Classroom Champion - Sam Crockett - November 23, 2017

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Classroom Champions, presented by American Momentum Bank.

News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion, Sam Crockett. The College Station High School Senior has a 4.69 GPA, and is currently ranked in the top 3 percent of his class.

Stephanie Padgett – Teacher
“Oh he's an example. You can tell in the classroom he does not want to be the person in front of the camera. He is the one who will just kind of direct people and help people, and he would much rather be the person helping you, not necessarily leading you; but because of his personality and that nature, he's just going to lead you because you're going to look to him for the answers and for that smart decision making.”

Darryl Bruffett
Sam is a member of the Cross Country and Track teams for the Cougars. He has been named to the District, Region, and State Cross Country teams. Outside of athletics, Sam is the Vice President of the National Honor Society, Student Council President, and participates in Flippen Leadership Group Training as an intern for the Flippen Group. He won 2nd place at the state Business Professionals of America competition, has been named Student of the Year in English and History, a Boys State Representative, and is a Junior Leadership Brazos Graduate.

Rodney Wellmann - Coach
“I think he has an intrinsic motivation and he wants to do well, and he has a motor. And it doesn't matter if it's grades or working out, he wants to push himself to the limit and you can see that in practice, and it pays off in the meets. You know he's ran real well for us this year. I think it's just that intrinsic, that drive within himself that he wants to be the best student he can be, and the best athlete.”

Sam Crockett - Student
“I always like to be the one who's the first one to get there and the last one to leave; that's the way I like to go through all my different practices. Whether that's in the classroom or whether that's on the field, I'd say it's by example because I'm sort of verbal, but I'm not going to the one that's just yelling on every single run that we do or every single lift we do. I might do some if I notice someone is messing up or not doing their lifts completely, but besides that I'd say it's by example.

After High School, Sam plans on attending a four-year university, majoring in Business and pursuing a law degree in hopes to become a lawyer or one day take political office.

Congratulations to Sam Crockett of College Station High School. This week’s News 3 Sports Classroom Champion!
