Classroom Champions, presented by American Momentum Bank.

News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion, Tessa Miller. The St. Joseph Catholic School Senior has a 4.4 GPA, and is currently ranked first in her class.

Amy Matocha – Teacher
“Tessa is a very driven person, and she always wants to do her best, and she always want to be the best. And in that she perseveres. And I would say perseverance is the key characteristic because she will work and work and work until she gets it. And if that is something in the classroom, or a play on the court, she's going to do it over and over and over again until she gets it right.”

Darryl Bruffett
Tessa plays softball and volleyball for the Lady Eagles. She is also a manager for the basketball team. For her efforts in softball, Tessa was named Honorable Mention in her district. Outside of sports, she is involved in the Band, Eagles for Life, Student Council, and the National Honor Society. In the classroom, Tessa has maintained an A average the entirety of her high school career. And in her spare time, she likes to creates decals at her Etsy store.

Patrick Hazlett - Coach
“I think the hard work and the leading by example been easy for her to do. She's a very quiet leader. The way that she works and the way she approaches practice everyday. When you see the way she works and the kind of efforts she puts on the floor. Then it's very easy for the kids to want to emulate her and want to do what she's doing.”

Tessa Miller - Student
“Well, I remember as a underclassmen always looking to those older than me, and just like seeing like how they play on the court. And it inspired me to where I am today to try to be open and to be an example for those younger. And I just stay in a positive attitude, and I always want to help out others. If they have questions I want them to know that I'm there to answer them. And I just like try ton be and example that they can watch.”

After High School, Tessa wants to attend Texas A&M University and majoring in Civil Engineering.

Congratulations to Tessa Miller of St. Joseph Catholic School. This week’s News 3 Sports Classroom Champion!
