BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) -- The College Station Cougars dropped their season opener last week to Austin Westlake 35-28 in a game that just worked out because of Hurricane Harvey.
It was a solid test for Steve Huff and his Cougars who will be looking for their first win of the season against Shoemaker on Friday night in Killeen.
The loss pointed out some shortcomings, but there were plenty of positives too.
"One thing is the effort was there. Kids played hard. We had our opportunities to be right there at the end of it, just didn't quite get it done," said Huff.
The 8th ranked Cougars will kick things off with the Shoemaker Greywolves Friday at 7-30 at Leo Buckley Stadium in Killeen.
