Day one of 2017 Aggieland Invitational in the books

BRYAN/COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – A&M Consolidated, Bryan, College Station and Rudder all went 1-1 on the opening day of the 2017 Aggieland Invitational.

College Station held off a big Brenham rally to win their opening game of the 2017 Aggieland Invitational.

The Cougars led by 19 at halftime and 22 after three quarters, but saw the Cubs pull within two late in the game before holding on for the 65-62 win.

College Station dropped their second game of the day to Spring 43-42 and will face Clear Creek in the Silver Bracket quarterfinals Friday at 11 a.m. at A&M Consolidated.

Brenham also fell to Shoemaker 45-39 and will take on Kingwood in the Consolation bracket Friday at 2 p.m. at Consol.

Speaking of Consol, the Lady Tigers opened with a 74-28 win over Northside before losing to Centennial 50-33. Consol will face Seven Lakes in the Silver Bracket quarterfinals at 11 a.m. at Bryan High.

The Lady Vikings went 1-1 with a 50-42 victory against Seguin followed by a 69-31 loss to Houston Christian. Bryan meets Greenhill at Consol Friday at 11 a.m. in the Silver Bracket quarters.

Rudder beat Mayde Creek 61-49 to tip-off tournament play but came up a bucket shy against Trimble Tech, falling 55-53. The Lady Rangers face Copperas Cove Friday at 11 a.m. at Bryan High.

Huntsville split games today, first flaling to Houston Christian 73-35 before rallying to beat Seguin 55-39. The Lady Hornets will take on Clear Falls in the Bronze Bracket Friday at 9:30 a.m. at Consol.

In the Division II bracket defending champion Madisonville opened with a 75-35 win over Hudson but fell to La Vega 48-44 in the nightcap. The Lady Mustangs will face San Antonio Christian in the Silver Bracket at College Station Friday morning.

Somerville lost twice Thursday, dropping a 56-30 decision to Mt. Vernon and a 54-36 contest to Wharton. The Lady Yeguas take on Needville in the Consolation bracket Friday at 2 p.m. at College Station.
