Desiderio Earns NCEA Rider of the Month Honors

COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M Equestrian senior Alex Desiderio was named the NCEA EquiFit’s Equitation over Fences Rider of the Month, the association announced Wednesday.

On the road against ninth-ranked TCU, Desiderio tallied an 85-83 victory over Carley Barnett to help secure the Maroon & White’s 3-1 win in Fences. The Chester, N.J., native also earned her first Fences MOP of the season for her efforts, moving her to fifth on the all-time career Fences MOP list with five.

Desiderio leads the Fences squad with seven wins this season. During the fall, she went 6-2, while winning three consecutive competitions to open the season. Behind Desiderio, who holds an average score of 80.1, the Fences team has an 8-2 mark on the season.

The Aggies return to action Saturday, Feb. 10 as they travel to South Carolina. The meet is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. at One Wood Farm in Blythewood, S.C.
