BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) -- Ross Rogers’ sixth season leading Big Blue has promise as the Vikings look to tie a program-record fourth straight trip to the playoffs.
Five starters return on both offense and defense. Offensively, the Vikings will have their third starting quarterback in as many seasons with sophomore Kerry Brooks likely taking the controls from the graduated Mason Ray. He’ll be well protected under center with three returnees on the offensive line in Colton Campbell, Baylor commit Ylijaah Hall, and Aries Almarez. Bryan will also return a talented tandem at tailback with Joseph Jones and Jeremiah Townsend poised to get plenty of touches.
Defensively, the Vikings will be dangerous in the secondary with Gus Hancock, Tracy Bradford and Landon Plagens all making their return.
The Vikings schedule shapes up to be just as competitive in 2017, with non-district bouts against 2016 playoff participants Hutto, Navasota, and Magnolia West. The district slate won’t be any easier. Bryan will host state semi-finalist College Station and rival A&M Consolidated in the Crosstown Showdown. A road trip to state runner-up Temple closes out the 2017 regular season.
