WACO, Texas -- The College Station Lady Cougar soccer team defeated Waco University 4-0 Tuesday evening in Waco.
College Station opened the scoring with 2:27 left in the half when Callie Woods won the ball in the midfield and quickly switched play to Adrianna Wagner. Wagner's long pass found Kate Hinckley just outside the penalty area, Hinckley beat a defender before sliding the ball to Olivia Riechman. Riechman turned and fired a low shot past the goalie to give the Cougs a 1-0 lead at halftime.
At the 24 minute mark of the second-half, Hinckley took the ball on the left side and beat two defenders before sliding the ball across the face of the goal to Riechman. Riechman shot low past the diving University goalie to make the score 2-0. A minute later, a nice combination play between Lauren Puckett and Riechman netted Riechman the hat trick. Two minutes later, Riechman scored her forth goal on the night with the assist coming from Taylor Deuel.
The victory improved the Cougs to 9-1-2 overall and 2-0 in district play. In JV action, the Cougs defeated Waco University 2-0. Both Cougar goals were scored by Olivia Fox.
The win improved the JV to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in district.
The Cougs have a bye this Friday and will spend the afternoon volunteering at the Brazos Valley Food Bank. Next Tuesday the Cougars will play Bryan at home.
