COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – While they may have been rivals in the 2011 World Series, there was no ill-will between former MLB stars David Murphy and Lance Berkman tonight as they shared the stage in College Station.

They were joined by legendary former Texas A&M and Sam Houston State head baseball coach Mark Johnson at the first annual Night of the 12 for the 12 Youth Baseball organization.

Young ball-players and their families got the chance to pick the trio's brains about baseball and life.

Johnson said, "I just want to be an encouragement to the young people that are playing and of course I'm a baseball fan and it takes a lot of practice for guys to get better. So when they get with good teams and good organizations that organzie, good coaches and those types of things, then it has a better chance to work."

"For me, baseball is a tool," added Berkman. "It's a game thats a lot of fun but its also a way to teach young men about whats important in life and what has eternal value rather than just your batting average and ERA and things of that nature."
