CYPRESS, Texas (KBTX) -- The Rockdale Tigers are headed to state for the first time since they won it all in 1976 thanks to their 31-21 win over Yoakum Friday night in Cypress.
The Tigers got a huge effort from quarterback Torry Locklin, who ran for 313 yards and 3 touchdowns to lead his squad to the 3A Division I state title game.
"Torry's a special football player," said Rockdale head coach Jeff Miller. "He's a special kid too. A great competitor, and he's a hoss too. He's done some things this year that are really indescribable."
Locklin said, "Yeah I had some ups and downs but the teams had ups and downs but all we had to do was look past that and think positive. That's what got us through this."
Locklin also came down with an interception playing defense.
The Tigers are set to face Brock in the state championship game Thursday at 3 p.m. at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
