Morris signs baseball Letter of Intent with Paris Junior College

MUMFORD, Texas -- Mumford High School's James Morris, Jr. was a two sport standout for the Mustangs and Friday signed his National Letter of Intent to play college baseball at Paris Junior College.

While Morris played basketball for the Mustangs, his first love was baseball.

During his freshman year in 2014 he was the District 26-1A Newcomer of the Year.

In 2015 he was the Week 3 TXHighSchoolBaseball.com 1A Pitcher of the week when he was part of two combined No-Hitters. He was also voted the 26-2A 1st Team All-District Pitcher.

In 2016 he was voted a 2nd Team All-District Pitcher

During his senior campaign in 2017 he was the Week 6 TXHighSchoolBaseball.com Pitcher of the Week. Morris was also named the District 26-2A Co-MVP anda THSBCA 2nd Team All-State selection.

For his high school career James logged 211 strikeouts in 136 innings of work and had .430 career batting average.
