Bryan, Texas (KBTX) -- The Rudder Rangers kept their playoff hopes alive with a 42-21 win over the University Trojans Friday night at Waco ISD Stadium.

Hunter Dobbins hit Markeist Johnson on a 38 yard touchdown pass to get the scoring started for Rudder and a 7-0 lead.

Bladen Reaves scores from 2 yards out later on to double the Rangers advantage to 14-0.

University, looking to snap a 45 game losing streak, was able to cut the Ranger lead in half, but that was as close as the Trojans would get.

Dobbins scores on a quarterback keeper in the 2nd quarter to increase the Rudder lead to 21-7 and they would go onto win it 42-21.

Rudder wins back to back games for the first time since the 2015 season and keeps their playoff hopes alive with the win.

Rangers (2-7, 2-3) will host A&M Consolidated next week, while University (0-9, 0-5) will battle Waco next Friday looking to end the season on a winning note.
