Rudder wrestling wins six medals at district meet

WALLER, Texas (KBTX) -- The Rudder JV and Varsity teams competed in the District 10-5A tournament at Waller High School on Saturday. The JV team placed 2nd overall with bronze medals being earned by Ramiro Martinez and Joseph Mortashed, Silver medals earned by Legend Gray, Jalen Thierry and Alvaro Espinoza, and JV district champions earning gold were Dequintus Wilson, Bladen Reaves, Andrew Lloyd and Dwayne Richards.

The Varsity boys brought home six medals. Desmond White and Joe Rives placed 4th, Chris Soler placed 3rd, and Casey Shutt, Thomas Carter and Justin Gomez all placed 2nd.

The Varsity girls brought home 4 medals. Hailey Pohl placed 4th, McKenzie McGee and Shelby Squires placed 2nd, and Courtney Batiste was the district champion and won gold.

These 10 wrestlers have qualified and will compete in the upcoming Regional Tournament this Friday and Saturday at Bryan High.
