Texas A&M’s women’s golf announced the signing of two of Golfweek’s Top 100 golfers in the 2018 recruiting class, Katie Finley (Ardmore, Okla./Plainview HS) and Brooke Tyree (Sulphur, La./Sulphur High School) to National Letters of Intent, announced head coach Trelle McCombs on Wednesday.

Finley, who is the top-ranked golfer in the 2018 recruiting class out of Oklahoma, helped Plainview win the 2017 Oklahoma 3A State Championship, and took home the individual state championship. She helped Plainview to a runner-up finish and posted a top 10 individual finish as a sophomore in 2016. She was named the 2017 All-Ardmoreite Girls Golf MVP for her state championship run, and is ranked as the No. 67 golfer in the 2018 recruiting class in Golfweek’s rankings.

“Katie is so eager to play collegiate golf and get here to Texas A&M,” said McCombs. “She is coachable and has the growth mindset that all coaches are looking for in players. Katie is long off the tee, and we can’t wait to get her here and see how her game transfers to college golf.”

Tyree, the top-ranked recruit in the state of Louisiana, has three top four finishes at the state high school championships, helping Sulphur win three straight state championships. Tyree, who has only been playing golf for four years, posted a 72.09 stroke average for Sulphur as a junior. She has posted three top five finishes in AJGA events, and was named to the AJGA Transamerica Scholastic Junior All-America Team. She is the No. 52 golfer in the 2018 recruiting class, according to Golfweek’s rankings.

“Brooke is a player that we felt got overlooked and underrated during the recruiting process,” said McCombs. “She is steady emotionally, and remains very focused throughout her round. We’re excited about Brooke being a part of the Aggie family and can’t wait for her to get here.”
